Just got back from my exam center - passed with an 90% using only this book and some practice exams for study material. I studied over the course of approximately 8-10 hours using these materials in the 2 days before my exam. Like another reviewer, I found the Skillport lessons my company provides to be quite useless in the ITIL arena.

I always try to allocate my star-ratings based on the product itself, rather than the packaging, text-digital conversion, customer service, etc... since those factors can vary and do not truly represent the product. Since Amazon doesn't provide multiple criteria for review, I think it's unfair for a book to receive poor marks due to a shoddy Kindle conversion. I give the book content 5/5 stars, and the Kindle Conversion (Fire) 4/5 stars.

Regarding Content: This book covers all of the items needed to pass the ITIL 2011 Foundations Exam in sufficient detail. Sections are organized around the ITIL Core Volumes. Each core volume has an overview and a section on processes. At the end of each section there are 6-10 practice questions with answers in the back of the book. I noted above that I used some practice exams from a different source as well, but I am confident that I would have achieved the requisite 65% score using only this book.

Regarding Kindle Conversion: There existed in the Kindle version the typical signs of a text-digital book transfer: misspellings, incorrect words, multiple choice errors, etc... but this was not by a long shot the worst I've seen. Most of the errors are easily spotted and chalked up to lazy editing (do they not have spell check for these conversions??), and there were not many of them to boot. *****As others have noted, there is no table of contents in the Kindle version. I easily remedied this by adding a bookmark to the beginning of every major section - a very quick and simple solution as you read through.***** Apart from that, this conversion was decent. I read it on the Fire, and all the images were double-tappable for expansion and consumption. All in all, not perfect, but still a 4/5 considering how easily the table of contents problem was to fix. Plus, at $10, it's hard to argue - it's rare to see a textbook on Kindle so far below the print price. Hopefully that's an example other publishers will begin to follow.

I recommend this book to anyone

Foundations of IT Service Management with ITIL 2011 eBook Brady Orand Julie Villarreal Reviews

I never realized how much I use a table of contents till this book. Especially when it comes to studying...You take the exam questions at the end of the section then you want to see the answers, if you realize that you got a question wrong and you want to review that material you need to skim back through the book to find it and it takes so much time to do this on top of trying to flip through this book as you are on a train heading to/from work that is crowded and moving a lot. It's very time consuming. Material is ok, hard to follow at times. Really can't get into it without being able to reference back to a TOC or a framework.

Like a previous review stated...You WILL have to make your own TOC with bookmarks...even that will not be too effective. I really hope the publishers see this and add a TOC.
I have been teaching the ITIL Foundations class since 2005, and I found this to be an excellent book for preparing for the ITIL Foundations exam. It is broken down into nice, digestible sections which contain a list of important review topics, glossary terms, and review quizzes. It also illustrates the topics by telling the story of Geppetto Garcia's restaurant. While I prefer that they use more relevant examples than a restaurant, the book comprehensively covers all the topics for the exam.
Bought the ebook version - review is for this

Easy Read, no really. Compared to other study material, I found it easy to read. Finished it in a week.

Lots to cover and they did a good job trying to break it down and even provide helpful hints on remembering terms. The sample questions at the end of each sections were useful. Each summary of definitions and topics were great to compile into a single study guide.

Formatting errors galore. Looks like the transition to ebook wasn't 100%. Not a deal breaker but something that should easily been spotted during "post".

Some reviewers feel the author did too much on trying to give examples and support (ie - Geppetto). I just skipped over such it. I liked having the option to read it, though.

I used this book along with the 201 Questions for Your ITIL Foundation Exam ebook. To me they went together very well. As in my review on the 201 questions, here is what I did

1) Read the entire Foundation book - do the internal questions, summaries, etc
2) Go through the 201 questions. Take note of what you got wrong and right.
3) Go back to the Foundations book to look up and review the sections where you got the questions wrong.
4) Return to the 201 questions. Keep going over the questions. repeat, repeat - even if you get them correct. It helped me job y memory during actual test time.

For less than $20 to pass (yes, I passed on first try with room to spare) the exam, it was worth it.
